The court ordered a search of the Dera Sacha Sauda premises in Sirsa, Haryana. Today was the second day the authorities searched through the jailed Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s cult base. To everyone’s shock the authorities found explosives and two tunnels in the premises.
They found 85 cartons full of explosives at a factory on the premises. The members of the cult defended the explosives as being used to make firecrackers. The factory was sealed by the search team and a forensic team has been assigned to examine the nature of the explosives. Government spokesperson, Satish Mishra said whether it was for explosives or not, “It is an illegal factory.”
The two tunnels found at the cult base were even more disturbing. One connected Ram Rahim’s personal residence to a woman’s hostel. The other led into a muddy path, 5 km from the Dera premises. The authorities are assuming it was to be used as an escape route.
Mr. Mishra was quoted saying, “We found a window like path leading from Dera Awas to Sadhvi Niwas. The team is investigating the same.”
The search party also recovered a huge amount of cash in demonetized currency as well.
Haryana Police Chief B.C. Sandhu reported, “The Dera premises is a huge area and it will take time to complete the entire process.”
The premises are lavish and has replicas of the Taj Mahal, Disney World, Eiffel Tower and the Kremlin. The base also has a movie theatre, a shopping mall, a hospital and a stadium.
