A youth was killed and 20 others were injured in a clash against Security Forces in Shopian. On Tuesday the security forces were in an encounter during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO.)
The locals were frustrated and started a protest and tried to enter the cordoned area. In the struggle, Tamsheel Ahmad Khan died due to head injuries.
The security forces were acting on a tip pertaining to the presence of Jaish e Mohammad militants in the Shopian area. Hundreds of people mostly youngsters filled the streets in the area where the CASO was being conducted.
The mob desperately pushed through the security by pelting stones and questioning the continuous disturbance in their daily life. The security forces were instructed to burst teargas shells and open fired to control the mob.
Around 20 people injured were rushed to a hospital in Shopian but then transferred to a better facility in Srinagar.
