On Saturday, six people were trashed in Baba Hardas Nagar of Delhi for allegedly carrying buffalo calves.
The six were attacked by a mob, who later vandalized six vehicles and thrashed three drivers. The calves were then set free by the mob. The drivers, who were Muslims, were severely injured. One of the drivers, Ali Jaan is said to be in critical condition while others are out of danger. Ali Jaan’s son registered a case against the attackers.
This is second such incident in the last fortnight. On June 30, a man accused of carrying beef and beaten to death in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh by a mob.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned such incidents and warned people that killing in name of cow vigilante would not be tolerated. He tweeted, “Killing people in the name of gau bhakti is not acceptable. This is not something Mahatma Gandhi would approve of.” He also added that no one has the power to take the law into their hands.
