Today is World Heart Day and everyone is either sharing stories of successful heart surgeries or learning how to keep a healthy heart. In the wake of the designated World Heart Day let’s reflect on stories of heart surgeries.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has granted a visa to a 7 year old girl and her mother from Pakistan who is in urgent need of an open heart surgery. Sushma Swaraj tweeted, “Yes, we are allowing Visa for your 7 years old daughter’s open heart surgery in India. We also pray for her early recovery.”

The mother of the girl, Nida Shoaib had applied for a visa back in August and it had not been cleared. She tweeted Sushma Swaraj and requested for her visa process to be sped up as her daughter’s health was deteriorating. Sushma Swaraj immediately responded. The girl will soon be in Noida to get the much needed surgery.

A successful surgery for Noor Fatima a two year old girl from Lahore. She was diagnosed with multiple holes in her heart. The surgery was extremely expensive for the father Nadeem Sajjad to afford. He traveled all the way to Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospital in Bengaluru with his suffering child and wife. Indians were understanding and many donated to Noor’s surgery and once she was hale and hearty the country rejoiced.

A chance for you to make a difference for Sonu Kumar, a 35 year old tailor suffering from a rheumatic infection. The infection causes the heart valves to get tight and start leaking. He requires an immediate heart valve surgery but no hospital in Punjab kept him as he could not afford the bills. At present, Sonu is at Ludhiana Mediways Hospital but continues to suffer. The hospital is giving him a major subsidy and others are donating as much as possible. If you have more than your basic necessities consider sending donations to: The General Manager, Ludhiana Mediways Hospital, Ferozpur Road, Near Octroi Post, Ludhiana – 142012. Any cheque may be made in the name of ‘Cardiac Care Centre – a unit of Ludhiana Mediways Pvt., Ltd.,’ with ‘donation for Sonu’ written at the back.
