Three years ago, 39 Indians were abducted by the Islamic State from Mosul. After a hard struggle the Iraqi forces drove Daesh out of the second biggest city in Iraq.

Now, External Affairs Minister of India, Sushma Swaraj met with her Iraqi counterpart, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Eshaiker Al-Jafari.

The Foreign Minister of Iraq addressed the media after meeting Sushma Swaraj and said, “Not sure 100 per cent whether they are alive or not. We are doing our best.”

Al-Jafari is on a visit to India from 24th to 18th of July. He met with Sushma Swaraj at Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan to conduct a discussion on bilateral relations.

At 5 P.M., today, Sushma Swaraj addressed the meeting and discussed the contents of the discussion with the Parliament.

Sushma Swaraj is making attempts to track down the 39 Indians that had been abducted. She even visited the relatives of the Indians missing. Sushma comforted them and said they were mostly imprisoned in Badush in Northwest Mosul.

However, a report released on Saturday stated that the prison was stuck in the middle of the Iraqi coalition forces fighting Daesh. The prison was completely destroyed and turned to rubble.
