In Tamil Nadu, another case of school student suicide was reported on the 27th of July, Wednesday.
Getting into the details, a class 12 student in Karaikudi, Sivagangai district in Tamil Nadu died by suicide. As per the district Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr. Vinoj said, “An autopsy was completed and the deceased boy’s body was handed over to his parents.”
The deceased student hanged himself to death and was found at his home, following which a case has been registered. The police are investigating the case and said, details would be revealed after the reports of the autopsy.
In the past 24 hours, this is the second suicide incident and the fifth one in the past 10 days.
Notably, on the 26th of July, Tuesday, a class 12 student in Cudallore allegedly died by suicide and later that day another class 11 student died in Sivakasi.
In addition, on the 25th of July, Monday, a Class 12 student of Sacred Heart Girls Higher Secondary School in Tiruvallur district was found dead at her hostel. The incident came two weeks after death of private residential school in Kallakurichi surfaced, creating a chaotic protest in the State.
Moreover, in the first suicide incident of Kallkurichi, the police made five arrested, including the school’s principal and two teachers. The teachers had reportedly humiliated her for her academic performance.
Meanwhile, Mr. M.K. Stalin, the Chief Minister also expressed grief over the deaths of students.
