Congress Party Attacks The Election Commission

On Thursday, the Congress alleged the Election Commission (EC) of India was acting like BJP’s puppet. This remark was made after the EC failed to take action against Prime Minister Modi’s roadshow in Gujarat.

PM Modi violated the model code of conduct by holding a roadshow after casting his vote in the Gujarat Assembly Polls. The Congress Chief Spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said, “It is a sad day for the country as EC has denigrated the Constitution.”

The Spokesperson addressed a Press Conference where he stated the poll panel was a “puppet and frontal organisation” of the BJP as it failed to take action against PM Modi.

Surjewala further stated the Chief Election Commissioner was acting like PM Modi’s Personal Secretary. The opposition party attacked the BJP and EC after Rahul Gandhi receieved a notice for prima facie violating a model code by giving interviews for Gujarati TV channels.

Surjewala was quoted saying, “The rules are different for the Congress and newspapers, TV channels airing Gandhi’s interviews, which were not violation of the code of conduct. But at the same time, no action is being taken against the Prime Minister.”

After casting a vote, Modi walked out of the polling station holding up his inked finger to a cheering crowd. The PM walked the entire stretch motivating the crowd to vote for the BJP which was considered a roadshow by the Congress.
