Tokyo Paralympics 2021: India Secures 7 Medals Including Gold, PM Tweets Congratulatory Messages

India Secured a total of 7 medals in the Tokyo Paralympics 2021. In the Tokyo Paralympics, India bagged 1 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals in different events till Monday, the 30th of August.

In Monday’s Men’s Javelin Throw, Devendra Jhajaria and Sundar Singh Gurjar won a Silver and a Bronze medals, respectively. Both the athletes won the medals with their best throw of 64.35 metres and 64.01 metres, respectively.

Another athlete Mr. Yogesh Kathiniya secured a Silver Medal in the F56 Discus Throw event. Shooter Ms. Avani Lekhara bagged a Gold medal for India at the Tokyo Paralympics. She participated in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 competition and became the first Indian woman to secure a gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympics.

Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi expressed joy and congratulated the athletes for their win at the Tokyo Paralympics 2021.

With such a strong beginning, India is hoping to bag more medals with the outstanding performance of athletes. It is to be noted that in the recently held Tokyo Olympics 2020, India performed best compared to the last Olympic event held in 2019 and secured a total of 7 medals including one Gold Medal.

The 2021 Tokyo Paralympics, started from the 25th of August, is scheduled to continue till the 5th of September, Sunday.
