On the 11th of January, Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth requested his fans and followers to stop pressuring him to join politics.
Mr. Rajinikanth said, “My heartfelt thanks to those who did not participate in the protest, in line with the leadership request. I have already elaborated on the reasons as to why I am not entering politics now. I have announced my decision. I humbly request you all to not conduct such events and force me to enter politics and cause me pain.”
Mr. Rajinikanth’s statement came after thousands of his fans gathered at Valluvar Kottam and urged him to join politics.
Angry supporters and fans of Superstar Rajinikanth staged protests and asked him to contest the upcoming Tamil Nadu elections and launch his political party. They raised slogans saying “Vaa Thalaiva Vaa” (come leader come.)
Mr. Rajinikanth’s decision of not joining politics and launching his own political party disappointed many of his fans, who were waiting for his official entry into politics.
Initially Mr. Rajinikanth was scheduled to launch his political party and join politics in Tamil Nadu. He was about to launch his party officially in January 2021.
However, due to his health conditions and doctor’s advice, the Superstar said he would stay away from politics.
