Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister of India, is scheduled to address the Parliament on the 15th of September.

On the second day of the Monsoon Parliament session, Mr. Singh would address the ongoing India-China issue.

The Union Defence Minister is likely to make a statement on standoff between Indian and Chinese soldiers at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh.

The address is expected to take place at around 3:00 P.M., in the Lok Sabha.

The statement from Rajnath Singh over the ongoing India-China issue comes after several criticism and demands from the opposition for a debate on the matter.

Since the 15th of June, India-China tension escalated along the LAC. The Chinese troops opened fire and killed 20 Indian Army personnel at Galwan Valley.

After several meetings and talks, recently on the 11th of September, both countries agreed on five points agreement to the situation on the LAC, including the disengagement of troops and easing of tensions.

Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi conducted the meeting in Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in Moscow.

The Monsoon Parliament session began after six months amid the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

On the first day of the session, the 14th of September, as many as 24 Members of Parliament (MPs) tested COVID-19 positive.

This year due to the COVID-19 infection outbreak, the Parliamentary arrangements are different considering COVID-19 protocols, social distancing and sanitizing the parliament.
