The Union Government on the 24th of November, Wednesday, approved the construction of 3.61 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) (PMAY-U) scheme.
During a press conference, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) released an official statement and said, the construction in 17 states and UTs is worth Rs 7.52 lakh crore. Reportedly, under the “housing for all” mission, there would be 1.41 crore houses, which will be completed by 2022. The total investment under the Mission is Rs. 7.52 lakh crore, with a central assistance of Rs. 1.85 lakh crore, the Union Ministry said that so far, Rs 1.13 lakh crore has already been released.
As of now, 85 lakh houses have been grounded for construction and close to 53 lakh beneficiaries received their houses under the scheme.
In 2022, the Central Government is aiming to achieve housing for all target, providing houses under the PMAY-U scheme for eligible people.
