Dharmesh Sharma, a special judge of the Delhi High Court, on the 11th of September, visited the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and recorded the testimony of the Unnao rape survivor.
Mr. Sharma recorded her statement and continued the proceedings of the case against Kuldeep Singh Sengar, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)
In 2017, Kuldeep Singh Sengar allegedly raped the minor girl at his residence in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh.
In 2018, after the investigation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) found Sengar guilty and revealed the accusations made by the teen were true.
Recently, on the 28th of July, the girl, along with her two relatives and lawyer, met with an accident. While her two relatives died on the spot, the lawyer and the victim sustained serious injuries.
Initially, the girl was undergoing treatment in Lucknow, but later, on the order of the Supreme Court (SC,) she was airlifted to Delhi and admitted to the AIIMS.
The family of the victim alleged Mr. Sengar of causing the accident due to which the victim is in critical condition.
Ranjan Gogoi, the Chief Justice of India (CJI,) transferred the Unnao rape case to the Delhi Court.
Last week, the Delhi High Court issued an order which allowed Dharmesh Sharma to hold court to record “the testimony of the victim in the premises/building of trauma centre of AIIMS in addition to the Tis Hazari District Court Complex during the trial of the cases.”
Kuldeep Sengar was also presented before the Judge for the proceedings before the victim’s testimony.
