Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Ms. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the General Secretary of the Indian National Congress (INC) addressed a rally.
During the rally, scheduled on the 21st of January, Friday, Ms. Gandhi hinted at being the chief ministerial candidate of the INC. While releasing the party manifesto for the upcoming elections, Ms. Priyanka Gandhi responded to a question and said, “Do you see anybody else’s face from the Congress party? Dikh to raha hai na sab jagah mera chehra (You can see my face all around.)”
Aiming to empower women and give a new vision to strengthen youth power, the INC released its manifesto named “Bharti Vidhan.” During the launch, Mr. Rahul Gandhi said, “The youth in Uttar Pradesh need a new vision and only Congress can give that vision to the state.” He further said, “We don’t spread hatred, we unite people and we want to create a new Uttar Pradesh with the strength of youth.”
Recently, the Party released its first Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) candidates list, giving 50% of the seats to women.
So far, the Indian National Congress released 166 candidates for the 403 Assembly seat elections in Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh election 2022 for 403 seats is scheduled to be held in seven phases, set to begin from the 10th of February.
The results of the Assembly elections would be announced on the 10th of March 2022.
