The Uttar Pradesh Government, on the 19th of July, allowed gathering of fifty people for the upcoming Bakrid celebration in the State.
Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, on Monday, issued special guidelines for the Bakrid celebrations amid the ongoing Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. As per the guidelines, at a time, 50 people could offer prayers and celebrate, following protocols like social distancing, mask and sanitization. In addition, considering cow slaughter crime, there should be no killing of prohibited animals are allowed. In U.P., under the Cow Slaughtering Act, cows and camels are not allowed to kill.
The place for ‘qurbani’ (sacrifice of animals) should not be a public place and only designated spots should be allowed for the ritual.
The Chief Minister also ordered that hygiene standards should be maintained at all places.
Meanwhile, with the beginning of Zul Hijjah from the 12th of July, India is set to celebrate Eid ul Adha on the 21st of July
