Recently, a minister from Uttar Pradesh made a statement highlighting anti nationals in India. His “If you are against India, you would be killed in an encounter,” became headlines.
On the 22nd of July, the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Swaroop Shukla made the bizarre statement for Indians, which became a controversial affair in Uttar Pradesh (U.P.,) and social media.
The statement of Mr. Swaroop Shukla was a response to Munawwar Rana, a famous poet. The poet said he would leave Uttar Pradesh if Yogi Adityanath comes into power and takes oath as the Chief Minister again.
Reacting to Munawwar Rana’s statement, Swaroop Shukla said, Mr. Rana has been in India since 1947 and is one of those planning conspiracies to break India from inside. Adding to it he said, “In such a situation, whoever will stand against Indians, will be killed in the encounter.” However, the interesting fact is that the poet was born in the year 1952, five years later than the vague claims of Swaroop Shukla.
Besides taking a dig at Munawwar Rana, the Uttar Pradesh Minister also criticised Priyanka Gandhi, the General Secretary of the Indian National Congress (INC.) She is on a three day tour of Uttar Pradesh. Citing the same, Swaroop Shukla said, Ms. Gandhi is a political tourist and visiting U.P.
It is to be noted, Uttar Pradesh is scheduled to have Assembly elections in 2022.
