BJP announced that the new Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister will be sworn in at 5:00 P.M., on Sunday. The PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, the BJP president, will be present at the ceremony. This will be held at Smriti Upwan in Lucknow, the Capital City of UP.

The party is yet to announce the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister. All the newly elected 312 Assembly members are expected to meet on Saturday and finalize the leader. The names that are on the list include Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Manoj Sinha, the Minister of State for Telecom and the UP BJP President Keshav Prasad Maurya.

Rajnath Singh, who previously was a Chief Minister of UP has the highest probability. Sinha too has administrative experience because of the Bhumihar heritage. But Sinha’s election would not go well with the lower caste voters. Keshav Prasad Maurya had worked in the support of the party and got in non-Yadav OBC votes. Mahesh however in Rashtriya Swayansevak Sangh (RSS) who is the fountainhead of BJP in the state.

The BJP is yet to declare the state, where they won a three fourths majority in the 403 member House. The party will be returning to power after 14 years in the state and has total 325 seats, including its allies, in the 17th Vidhan Sabha.
