Through the years, Valentine’s Day has become a day to celebrate love, togetherness and celebrating the special someone in your life. However, this day was not always meant for this purpose. Though one true origin has never been given for this particular day, Valentine’s Day has origin claims in Rome, where men hit on women by literally hitting them! Despite having grown through much and through so many years, our Indian politicians seem to have regressed to the past. Today, we take a look at some of the much “loved” politicians of our country and how one would really not want men like these in our lives.
The Goa Chief Minister, Manohar Parikher, is afraid. Even girls have started drinking beer. A cause to be worried, right? Why would one want a man like this? Gone is the freedom. Gone is your liberty and gone is your personal life choice. Right? Strike one for the Goa Chief Minister!
The fact that India is primarily a Hindu country is but an underlying truth. “The concept of four wives and forty children just won’t work in India but it is high time that every Hindu woman must produce at least four children to protect the Hindu religion,” said Sakshi Mahraj from the BJP. Marriage to a man like this would make women a children producing factory and who would want that? Really?
“Boys and girls love each other, later they have differences, and the girl goes and gives a statement that she has been r***d. And then the poor fellows are sentenced to death. Should r*** cases lead to hanging? Boys are boys, they make mistakes.” Aaw. Look at Mulayam Singh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party Leader, supporting his men. Mistakes happen all the time so let us not make this particular one!
According to Ram Gopal Yadav from the Samajwadi Party, relationships, when they are kept hidden, do not amount to r***. However, if the relationship is out in the open, then what should not happen always, ALWAYS happens. Oh well. Another kind of a man to be avoided!
In 2015, ex Goan Chief Minister, Laxmikant Parsekar told protesting nurses to not stage a hunger strike in the sun as it can ‘ruin their marital prospects’. “When we met the Chief Minister over our demands at Ponda today, he said the girls should not sit on hunger strike in hot sun as their complexion will become dark and they will not find a good bridegroom.” If these are the kind of men who are destined for us, then we do not want them at all!
In 2012, the ex coal minister, Sriprakash Jaiswal, compared women to cricketers, saying as time passes, both of them become not as fun as they used to be. According to our esteemed government member, women are fun only till a certain point. Oops.
Men have been given the ruling status in our country for a long time now. Even in the 21st century, comments like this are being made and women still become the weaker members of society. On Valentine’s Day, it is time to take a stand make a mark by just being a woman.
