On Monday, the Delhi police arrested the 27 year old man involved in the burglaries in Vasant Kunj area in the National capital.

The burglar identified as Siddharth Mehrotra is a graphic designer by profession. Mehrotra targetted politicians, businessmen, government officers and bureaucrats houses for his robbery.

Reports reveal that Siddharth comes from a well educated family and his father is a bank manager.

DCP Ishwar Singh reported, “Since January, many burglaries were reported from upscale areas of south Delhi after which teams led by ACP (Vasant Kunj) K.P. Kukrety and SHO (Vasant Kunj-N) Gagan Bhaskar were formed to conduct raids.”

The police reviewed Siddharth’s Facebook page and found a picture of him sitting in a Ford Ecosport and the number plate was clear.

The police finally caught up with him and found a Chevrolet Cruze that the accused claimed to have bought with the money, he had stolen. The police also recovered money in Nepali rupees, U.S. dollars and Indonasian Rupiah. The burglar was also possessing 11 gold chains, 8 pairs of earrings, 4 rings and 2 gold bangles worth lakhs of rupees.

Mehrotra was early under the police’s radar in 2015 and was taken into custody but got out on bail.

The police interrogated him yesterday and the accused confessed to all the robberies he committed and gave the names of the accomplices as well, Jitender and Anurag Singh. The police managed to nab the two as well.

The police questioned why such an educated men were taking up the life of crime to which they said that they wanted to live in luxury.
