The Vice President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
According to sources, Mr. Naidu was asymptomatic and was tested during a routine checkup.
The news was confirmed by the Vice President’s Office on the evening of the 29th of September.
The VP’s Office in a tweet said, “The Vice President of India who underwent a routine COVID-19 test on Tuesday morning has been tested positive. He is however, asymptomatic and in good health. He has been advised home quarantine. His wife Smt. Usha Naidu has been tested negative and is in self isolation.”
Mr Naidu, who is also the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, recently attended the monsoon session of parliament.
The Monsoon Parliament session ended earlier due to the fear of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
As of now, Mr. Naidu is in self isolation and is under home quarantine.
Meanwhile, India reported more than 61 lakh cases.
