Vikash Dubey, a wanted gangster of Kanpur was arrested by Madhya Pradesh Police on the 9th of July. 

Vikas Dubey, was a wanted  criminal in the killing of eight policemen near Kanpur. 

The news of his arrest was confirmed by Amitabh Yash, the Inspector General (IG) of UP Special Task Force. 

Inspector Amitabh Yash said Vikash Dubey was arrested  at Mahakal police station in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. 

Narottam Mishra, the Home Minister of Madhya Pradesh, said, “It is a big success for the police, Vikas Dubey is a cruel killer.  Whole Madhya Pradesh police were on alert.  He has been arrested from Ujjain Mahakal temple.  We have informed Uttar Pradesh Police.” 

On the 3rd of July, Vikash Dubey killed 8  policemen in a shootout in Bikru village in Kanpur. The team of Uttar Pradesh police went to Bikru to arrest Vikash Dubey, a gangster in Kanpur. 

However, he killed all the policemen and was absconding since last week. 

According to sources, Vikas Dubey was arrested outside the Mahakal temple in Ujjain where he paid Rs 250 entry fees.

After his darshan, he told the security guards after the darshan that he wanted to surrender and asked them to call the police.

Vikash Dubey has a criminal record with the Uttar Pradesh Police and is charged in 60 criminal cases including murder, kidnapping, extortion and rioting.
