On Saturday, Indian skipper Virat Kohli sent heartfelt farewell wishes to South African player AB de Villiers. This comes after the South African player announced his retirement from international cricket.
Kohli appreciated the legendary career of his Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate in a tweet. Kohli wrote, “Wish you all the best in everything that you do my brother. You’ve changed the way batting was seen in the time you’ve played international cricket. My best wishes to you and your family for this amazing journey ahead @ABdeVilliers17.”
Earlier in the week, Villiers made the announcement of his retirement. He stated he was “out of gas” after 14 years of an exceptional cricket career. Villiers ended his career with 8,765 runs to his name in 114 tests including 22 centuries.
The South African player has played a total of 228 ODIs making 9,577 runs including 25 centuries. The cricketer has played 78 T20s scoring 1,672 runs with 10 half centuries.
AB de Villiers also contributed as one of the best wicketkeepers in international cricket.
