Will Not Tolerate Derogatory Comments Says Manish Sharma, Union Minister Mahesh Sharma, Mango News, Lok Sabha elections 2019, Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha Polls, Surendra Singh comment, Uttar Pradesh elections 2019, BSP and SP alliance in UP, BJP campaign in UP

Mahesh Sharma, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) on the 30th of January, said, the BJP will not tolerate any derogatory statement against any daughter of the Nation.

Mr. Sharma’s remark came a day after Surendra Singh, one of the BJP members, criticised Rahul Gandhi, the Indian National Congress (INC) chief, and his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC.) Mr. Singh compared Rahul and Priyanka to Ramayana’s (a mythological book) Ravana (the embodiment of evil in Ramayana) and Surpanakha (Ravana’s sister) respectively.

Mr. Sharma, the Union Culture Minister, said, “The BJP is a party with discipline. If a person, be it an MLA or anybody else, makes any derogatory statement against any daughter of this nation, we do not support it.” He further added, “Neither the prime minister nor our Government or our Party president has ever supported such statements.”

Despite clarifying the Party’s view about Surendra Singh’s comment, Mahesh Sharma took a dig at the INC and criticised the Party for its culture of “political dynasty.” Mahesh said, “Now, the Congress has truly become a party of Maa, Beta aur Beti (it has become of party of mother, son and daughter.)”

Mr. Sharma diverted the topic towards the grand alliance of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP) and said, “This is an alliance of the opportunists and is hardly going to make any difference. Even if believe, that they are going to win 38 seats each in UP, considering they win on every seat, then also their total would be 76, while it requires at least 272 seats to form a Government at the Centre. The SP and BSP cannot do it, they only want a weak government.”

Recently, the Mayawati Das led BSP and the Akhilesh Yadav led SP formed an alliance to compete against the Opposition right wing, the BJP, in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections.

The Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh, scheduled to be held between April and May 2019, will be held for 80 seats. The major parties contesting the elections are the Indian National Congress (INC,) the BJP and the grand alliance of the BSP and the SP.
