Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh (MP,) claimed, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win 27 Lok Sabha seats in MP. Mr. Chouhan is called ‘mama’ (uncle) by the residents of MP, owing to the schemes implemented by him for the welfare of the women residents of the State.
Chouhan, on the 20th of January, addressed the Yuva Vijay Sankalp Maharally in Delhi, organised by the Delhi BJP Yuva Morcha. At the rally, Mr. Chouhan said, “Don’t think mama has become weak. I promise you that we will win at least 27 seats, as we did in 2014, out of the 29 Lok Sabha seats, in the coming elections.”
Addressing the public at the rally, Shivraj Singh Chouhan referred to the United India Rally held in Kolkata and compared it to a wedding. With this regard, he said, “It’s like a wedding without a groom. On the other hand we have a leader in the form of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lead us in the battle ground.”
The United India Rally was conducted by Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, and the Trinamool Congress (TMC.)
BJP leaders such as Manoj Tiwari, Vijay Goel and Jaibhan Pawaiya attended the Yuva Vijay Sankalp Maharally. Sunil Yadav, the President of the BJP Yuva Morcha, said, approximately 20,000 people gathered at the event.
The Yuva Vijay Sankalp Maharally was the fifth such rally in the last 2 months. The rally, organised ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, is an attempt by the BJP to gain votes in the upcoming elections.
The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled between April and May 2019. The major parties contesting are the Congress party and the BJP.
