On Women’s Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about the woman who inspired him to promote #SheInspiresMe. PM Modi paid tribute to the late Kunwar Bai, the mascot for his Clean India mission.
In a series of tweets, PM Modi asked people to talk about the women who inspired them using the #SheInspiresMe. Modi was quoted saying, “Through their exemplary deeds, several women have left an indelible mark in the history of humankind. They continue to inspire generations. I urge you to write about some women who inspire you.”
PM Modi appreciated Kunwar Bai who sold her goats to build toilets in her home in Kotabharri village, Chhattisgarh. He said her contribution to Swachh Bharat will not be forgotten and added he was deeply inspired by her noble gesture.
Mr. Modi said, “I will always cherish the time when I had the opportunity to seek Kunwar Bai’s blessings during one of my visits to Chhattisgarh. Kunwar Bai lives on in the hearts and minds of all those who are passionate towards fulfilling Bapus dream of a clean India.”
The Prime Minister shared pictures and a video clip of him felicitating Kunwar Bai at a program in Chhattisgarh two years ago.
