On the 2nd day of the Monsoon Parliament session, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Member of Parliament (MP) V. Vijayasai Reddy again served a notice regarding the Special Status Category.

This is the second time in the past 24 hours, the YSRCP MP served the notice to take up a debate regarding the SCS for A.P. The notice was served to the Chairman of the Upper House, Mr. M. Venkaiah Naidu.

With this move of Vijayasai Reddy, it could be said the Andhra Pradesh Government is trying hard to get the attention of the Central Government over the pending SCS promise made to A.P. The Telugu State of Andhra Pradesh is demanding special category status since the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana into two seperate states. The demand under the 2014 AP Reorganisation Act, was pending with the Government of India and the Union Cabinet for nearly 7 years.

MP Vijayasai Reddy and other YSRCP MPs addressed the media and said, “Special status is a top priority. We demand that the notice given under Rule 267 be allowed for discussion on this.”

Besides the Special Category Status, the AP Representatives at the Parliament also asked for revised funds for the Polavaram Irrigation Project of Andhra Pradesh. They even raised slogans and interrupted the Parliament proceedings today, the 20th of July.

The Parliament Chairman is yet to respond to the demands of the YSRCP MP and take the discussion.

Meanwhile, the Monsoon Parliament session started from the 19th of July and the Upper House sittings would continue till the 13th of August.

Stay tuned for further updates.
