On Saturday, the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi took a dig at the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM on Friday said bureaucrats should refrain from using social media for self proclamation and promote government schemes. To a post about the PM’s statement, Gandhi posted, “Leading by example is clearly overrated.”
On the occasion of Civil Services Day, the PM addressed bureaucrats and urged them to take any decisions without fear and avoid self promotion. The PM said, “these days, I see district magistrates posting photographs of themselves administering vaccines at vaccination camps on Facebook. Social media should be used to promote the government’s schemes, not oneself. In fact, I noticed officers would constantly check their phones during meetings. So I have banned phones in my meetings.”

The PM said that if a decision was taken with honest intention, for the welfare and betterment of public with truthfulness no one in the world would be reprimanded. He added that things might get rough momentarily but he stands with them. Modi also said the bureaucrats must work as a team and spoke about his will to change politics, he said, “I do not lack political will. Maybe I have a bit extra.”
The PM also spoke about the situation in Kashmir. He said people view bureaucracy very differently. When the jawans save them from floods, people clap and that “the same people may later pelt stones at them but for a moment this deed touches them.”
Congress, over the course of years, has taken several digs at the BJP government. This is another such incident.
