Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu announced Rs. 100 crores to construct houses for journalists. On Friday at the Legislative Assembly, Ramakrishnudu made the announcement. However, Andhra Pradesh’s Budget was read in the Assembly earlier this month without any mention to this scheme.

Ramakrishnudu clarified that the Government was in favor of this scheme but was not part of the budget by mistake. The scheme will either be added to the budget during reappropriation or as a supplementary item. A group of Ministers have been assigned to work out the modalities of the proposed scheme.

Minister Kalava Srinivasulu explained the scheme would be put in action from April this year. The journalists will also receive a special subsidy unlike the normal beneficiaries for housing schemes.

This comes a day after the ruling Telugu Desam Party moved a no confidence motion in the Parliament against the Modi Government. The two parties were far from getting enough number of votes to make the move in the Parliament.

This caused a commotion in the House pushing Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to adjourn the Parliament till Monday. The House met at 11 A.M., the members who won vacant seats in the House took their oath. After which the Speaker condoled the passing of three former members, physicist Stephen Hawking and 9 CRPF personnel who lost their lives in a Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi and the Telugu Desam Party created a ruckus in the Parliament adjourning the House. The TDP initially quit the BJP Government and a few weeks later quit the BJP led NDA. This was all done in demand for a Special Category Status demand by the political parties in Andhra Pradesh.
