Bhaichung Bhutia Resigns From Tirnamool Congress

Today, the former Indian football captain Bhaichung Bhutia took to Twitter saying he resigned from the official and political posts of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC.) Bhutia tweeted, “As of today I have officially resigned from the membership and all the official and political posts of All India Trinamool Congress party. I am no longer a member or associated with any political party in India.”

In 2013, Bhutia joined the TMC saying he did not want to sit on the sidelines and criticize the issues created by the law. Bhutia further appealed to the public asking more people to join politics. Bhutia stated he wanted to be a part of the change and that criticism will not bring any change. Bhutia remained unsuccessful though he contested in both the Assembly and Parliamentary elections. Bhutia’s football career circled around the teams Kolkata Maidan Giants, Mohun Magan and East Bengal. Bhutia further served as the head of the North Bengal Sports Development Council (NBSDC.)
