Budget Session: Action Packed Parliament Adjourned Again

Today, the second part of the Budget Session was again adjourned for the rest of the day. Earlier, the Session was adjourned till 11:30 A.M., due to the ruckus created by the opposition. The opposition members entered the House chanting the mantra Nirav Modi Ko Wapas Lao (bring back Nirav Modi.) Nirav Modi is the key accused in the Rs. 12,700 crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud.

The Congress President Rahul Gandhi along with the Party MPs held protests over the PNB fraud near the Mahatma Gandhi Statue in the Parliament. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members returned the favor by blaming the former for allegedly allowing jewelers to import gold in 2014.

The Congress took to Twitter demanding PM Modi address the Parliament and explain how Nirav Modi managed to flee India. The Congress tweeted, “It’s 20 days since the #ChhotaModi PNB Scam broke out and PM Modi still hasn’t said a word yet. PM Modi must come clean and address the current Parliament session explaining how fraudsters managed to flee the Country under his watch. #MaunModi.”

The Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said the Government is ready to hold discussions on the questions the opposition raises. He further invited the opposition for a structural debate and also pointed out they stop the ruckus inside and outside the Parliament.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) near the Mahatma Gandhi statue inside the Parliament, played their part by protesting for the Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh. Meanwhile, in a corner inside the Parliament premises, a few Shiv Sena MPs could be seen demanding a classical language status for Marathi.

The Budget Session began yesterday but due to the ongoing protests, the Houses have been adjourned for two days straight.
