The Nandyal by elections in Andhra Pradesh began today at 8:00  in the morning. The assembly seat for Nandyal is a prestige battle between Jaganmohan Reddy and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

The election was an important event and was given very high security. There were drones sent out to get real time images of the monitoring centres and ensure that none of the voters were being bribed.

Days leading up to the by election, officials seized Rs. 16 crores from 90 people in bribes and there have been reports of hundreds of crores put into betting on the election as well.

Today’s election saw 2,500 police officers and six paramilitary units deployed to ensure peace during the voting.

The by election have been taken place due to a seat getting free in the Nandyal assembly after Nansyal legislator Bhuma Nagi Reddy passed away in March this year.
