On Friday, the Election Commission (EC) ordered the repolling for the Second Phase of the Gujarat election polls. The EC ordered repolling for 6 of the booths. Late night on Friday the EC ordered the repolling citing technical reasons. The EC revoked the data present in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM.) The Second Phase of the Gujarat election polls was held on the 14th of December.
The repolling for the Second Phase of the Gujarat election polls will be held for Chhaniyan 1 and Chhaniyan 2 polling stations of Vadgam Constituency, booth number 27 of Viramgam Constituency, Nava Naroda booth of Daskroi Constituency and Nhara 1 and Sakarda 7 booths of Savli region.
The repolling for the Second Phase of the Gujarat election polls has been scheduled for the 17th of December. All the voters of these booths, the concerned officials and political parties have been informed about this change.
The Poll Panel ordered the counting of votes in 10 booths using Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) separately. The EC claimed the Presiding Officials (PO) forgot to wipe out the mock drill poll results from those EVM’s.
The VVPAT counting will be held for Ralisn 3 in Visnagar, Piludra 1 and Katosan 3 booths of Becharaji, Jamatha of Modasa, Vejalpur 58 of Vejalpur, Vastral 55 of Vatva, Khadiya 16 of Jamalpur Khadiya, Pilol 2 of Savli, Gojpur and Songir booths of Sankheda Constituencies.
On Tuesday, the EC ordered repolling for the First Phase of the Gujarat election polls. The First Phase of the Gujarat election polls was held on the 9th of December.
The Chief Electoral Officer of Gujarat B. B. Swain stated the Poll Panel cancelled the results stored in the EVMs of 6 booths. Swain said, “The reasons for cancelling these booth results is that the Presiding Officers had forgotten to wipe and delete the existing mock poll drill in their EVMs. We have initiated necessary actions against these lax officials.”
The repolling for the First Phase of the Gujarat election polls was held for Dhunda and Manpar booths in Jam Jodhpur Assembly Constituency, Bandharda and Gangda in Una Constituency, Chorwad in Nizar Constituency and Chanod colony, Chanod in Umargaon Constituency. The repolling for the First Phase of the Gujarat election polls was held on Thursday along with the Second Phase of the Gujarat election polls.
