On Friday, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) stated it would award the cleanest restaurant serving Haleem in the city this year. GHMC made the announcement during a meeting with hoteliers to discuss hygiene measures for this Ramzan season.
Mayor Bonthu Rammohan headed the meeting and told the management it was their responsibility to ensure cleanliness. He further urged the hoteliers to segregate dry and wet waste.
The Civic body also said Haleem stalls would not be permitted on footpaths to avoid blocking of traffic. The Mayor also listed the requirement for setting up a Haleem stall and the precautionary measures while preparing the dish. He also stressed the meat used for the Haleem must be procured from a GHMC slaughterhouse.
The GHMC also explained plastic bags below 50 microns are not allowed to be used at these stalls. Owners from Pista House, Bawarchi, Cafe Bahar, Red Rose and Hyline attended the meeting. The management of the restaurants vowed to follow the guidelines showed in a PowerPoint presentation during the meeting.
