On Sunday, the Hindu Jagran Manch warned the management of Aligarh schools from celebrating Christmas. The group has threatened everyone and said if they celebrate the festival it would be “at their own risk.”
This warning has caused panic among the educational institutions in Uttar Pradesh. Especially Christian schools are worried as the festival is one of the most important among the Christians.
City President of Hindu Jagran Manch Sonu Savita said, “The circular would be reaching all schools very shortly and we will decide a course of action on receiving their response.”
Many are expressing concern over this circular that threatens the Christians from celebrating their festival. President of the Public School and Development Society Praveen Agarwal explained, “Each year we celebrate festivals belonging to all communities and this experience helps our children to play a responsible role as citizens of this country.”
Convener of the Parents’ Association Anurag Gupta raised his concern, “Our schools have been playing an important role in helping students acquire knowledge of different religions and this helps them when they move out to different countries all over the globe.”
But the Senior Superintendent of Police Rajesh Pandey immediately intervened. He assured that no District Authority had the right to obstruct the celebration of any festival. He further stated he spoke to the schools’ management as well. Pandey promised full security to all the schools during Christmas. He also firmly said no one had the right to take the law into their own hands.
