Hyderabad Local Arrested For Illegally Extracting Oil From Animal Waste

On Wednesday, the Hyderabad Police arrested a Hyderabadi man for allegedly extracting oil from animal’s flesh and bones. Police stated he distributed the oil to fast food centres and pushcart holders to make junk food. They also said he sold the oil to chemical shop owners to make phenyl and soaps. It is said the products made by using the oil extracted from the flesh and bones spreads infections and diseases.

The Hyderabad Police in a statement said, “This is a case of preparation of oil by melting animal waste and illegally extracting and preparing the fat oil with associates, without any valid licenses.” They further added, “Accordingly, from the past few months, the accused person is doing illegal business by melting the animal waste and illegally preparing the fat oil.”

Mohd Ghouse aged 46 from Yakutpura, Hyderabad was arrested and will be soon produced before the Court. Rasool Bee, Sameena Begum, Mir Mumtaz Ali Khan aged 74 and M. A. Shukur Ali aged 75 are also accused in this case. A case was filed under the Sections 269 (Negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life,) 278 (Making atmosphere noxious to health,) 290 (Public nuisance,) 420 (Cheating,) 272 (Adulteration of food or drink intended for sale,) 273 (Sale of noxious food or drink) and 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.)

The Hyderabad Police in a Facebook post said, “Under the supervising of Sri.B.Anand, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mirchowk Division and Sri. M. A. Javed, Inspector of Police, PS. Rein Bazar, Further on reliable information of Sri S.Naveen Reddy, SI of Police, Reinbazar Police Station apprehended the accused person Mohd Ghouse on 09-01-2018 in the evening hours and on interrogation he confessed his guilt to have committed this offence.”

The Police stated Ghouse worked at a beef shop in Chanchalguda 12 years ago. As Ghouse’s income was meagre he decided to earn easy money by melting animal waste and illegally preparing oil. The Police seized three tin cans containing 13 litres of oil, 2 gas cylinders, 1 gas stove, 1 big bowl, 1 jug, 1 Puppet (gowra) and jalli.

Yesterday, the Hyderabad Police in a Facebook post appealed to the public saying, “On behalf of Police, I appeal to the public, do not eat any oil food items on roadside without verifying that were they are using hygienic oil or not?, as some of the fast food centers and pushcart holders are making food items using fat oil(by melting animal flesh.)

This is the second raid in the city after Neredmet Police in July last year, arrested an individual from an illegal piggery at RK Puram. The individual was involved in extracting oil from pig waste. The Police stated the accused was illegally slaughtering pigs and collecting the fat excreted by the animal. The fat is burned and oil is extracted from it.
