On Friday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy showers in Hyderabad and Telangana. The department also put on a 48 hour warning starting from Friday night.

The warning read, “Heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places very likely to occur in all the districts of Telangana.”

The Skymet Weather released a report that showed moderate to heavy showers in Telangana on Saturday whereas Andhra Pradesh would have light to moderate rainfall.

The IMD reported, “Associated upper air cyclonic circulation extending up to 9.5 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height persists. A trough now runs from the system to south Tamil Nadu across coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.”

Chief Meteorologist of Skymet, Mahesh Palawat said, “Hyderabad would have to bear with such weather (rains) only for some time, after that the rains would stop.”

A news channel reported that generally Telangana gets about 373.2 mm rainfall in the first week of August but this year the rainfall was recorded at 346.9 mm.
