IMD Summer Report: Southern States To Be Cooler Than The North

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) stated Southern states would experience a calmer summer compared to the rest of the Country.

A statement from the IMD stated, “The upcoming hot weather season is expected to have the above normal sub divisional average seasonal temperatures over most of the meteorological subdivisions of the country except the subdivisions of Eastern, East central and Southern parts for the Country that are likely to experience slightly below normal seasonal temperatures.”

Generally, the temperature during April and June are expected to go above the seasonal averages in most parts of India. However, the IMD has found the Southern parts of India will be cooler than last year.

As the summer touched its peak last week, the Southern states went from hot to cold. Hyderabad recorded its hottest day this summer on Thursday after which there was a mild hailstorm in the city. The cool weather continued in the city as well as in Karnataka and Kerala.

The Southern states’ temperature has been recorded at cloudy with chance of rain. The rain is likely to continue for 24 hours according to IMD in all the states including Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The previous year has been recorded by the IMD as the hottest summer in country’s history.
