Near Kashmere Gate interstate bus terminus in North Delhi, Narender Kumar lay injured for 12 hours while pedestrians stared and walked passed him.

The pedestrians just walking past him was not the saddest part of the incident. A couple of people walking by stole his phone, bag and Rs. 12 that had fallen out of his pocket.

Narender Kumar spoke to a news channel over the phone from Safdarjung Hospital on Friday and said, “I had injured my spine after being hit by a speeding car. So, I could not move from my position. But I had not bled and was conscious the entire time.”

With disappointment, he said, “People stopped to look at me. I pleaded with them for help, but they didn’t care. Since I was not bleeding, many thought I must have been drunk.”

The driver from Jaipur, Kumar was crossing the street when a speeding car hit him on 15th August. The police took Kumar to the hospital 12 hours after the accident when a passerby called them at 5 A.M., on Wednesday.

At present, he is being treated for injuries in her neck, spine and legs and the doctors have confirmed he is out of danger.

DCP (North) Jatin Narwal said, “It was an extremely unfortunate incident in which people not only ignored the accident victim but some also stole from him. We have added the section pertaining to theft in the case registered in this connection.”

Unfortunately, the police have found no leads and are struggling to catch the men who stole his phone and bad that contained Rs. 15,000.
