A goof up by Karachi Bakery in Hyderabad went viral creating havoc on social media.

On Wednesday, a customer uploaded a picture on Twitter of a bread packet that showed the manufacturing date as 5th October when it was actually the 4th of October.

It has been reported that the incident took place at the bakery’s branch opposite Moazzam Jahi Market. But the bread was packaged at the bakery’s unit in Uppal.

The picture went viral that led to an immediate response from the bakery and in a statement said it was a ‘typographical error.’

One of the posts on social media read, “They are actually playing with our health and life as we believe in the quality mark and labels. Customers should request the concerned authorities to check the labels and products on war footing basis to punish the culprits.”

The Karachi Bakery statement said, “With due respect to one and all, this was a typographical error. Karachi bakery has always strived hard and will continue to provide their patrons impeccable quality products.”

It was reported in the media that GHMC had raided the bakery recently but the Assistant Officer of Health, Dr. Gowri Uma informed that there was no raid done.

She was quoted saying, “We did not conduct a raid as it is being reported in the media. It was more of a checking. A team visited the outlet after the picture went viral on social media to look at the possibility of expired food or any items packaged in a similar way. No such violation was found. It seems that it was just a typo like they claim.”
