On Thursday, Chief Minister of Telangana K. Chandrashekhar Rao confidently stated the TRS would bag all the three Rajya Sabha seats. The voting for the three seats will be held today in the State.
There are a total of three candidates fighting for the three seats, one from Congress and three from TRS. Yesterday, the BJP and TDP’s Telangana Unit announced they would not contest in the Telangana elections.
KCR and his party MLAs took part in a mock voting organized by TRS at the Telangana Bhavan. The TRS Chief spoke to his MLAs and asked them to take this polling seriously. He stated Congress fielded one candidate for the sake of competition but was confident TRS would win.
Without any competition challenging the TRS, this looks like a clean sweep for the state’s ruling party. The two Congress MLAs who were expelled for injuring a TRS MLA will not be allowed to vote. Other than Telangana voting for vacant Rajya Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, West Bengal, Kerala and Chhattisgarh will be held.
