The Mumbai rains persisted on for the third day resulting waterlogged rail tracks and roads. The Education Department declared a holiday due to the downpour. The Indian Meteorological Department stated today Mumbai experienced the highest rainfall of the season.
The traffic in the city was at a snail’s pace due to poor visibility and knee deep water flooding the streets. Low lying areas like Andheri, Vidyavihar, Dadar, Sion and Parel faced the worst part of the Mumbai rains. Near the Sandhurst Road Railway station, a wall collapsed after three days of rains.
This led to locals stranded at railway stations during peak hours as the train services were delayed. The Western Railway Official stated some trains were forced to be stopped but a few are in function with restricted speed.
While most trains were rescheduled the AC trains were canceled for the day. The Indian Meteorological Department stated the heavy rains would continue through Monday and Tuesday.
