Rythu Bandhu Scheme: KCR And LIC Sign Memorandum

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao along with Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) Officials signed a memorandum to help farmers. The Telangana Government and LIC declared a Rs. 5 lakh life cover to the farmers in the State.

The official signing was done at Hitex in Hyderabad. KCR addressed a huge group of Rythu Samanvaya Samithis representatives. A number of officials from the Agriculture Department were also present at the meeting.

KCR asked the Agriculture Department officials to ensure the implementation of the insurance scheme. The CM also said that any insurance claim made would be cleared within 10 days.

This is part of the Rythu Bandhu Scheme that KCR put into action recently. The Government officials traveled to 8,060 villages to distribute 25,88,173 Rythu Bandhu cheques and passbooks.

A total of 58.24 lakh farmers from 10,750 villages will be covered under the Scheme. Out of the 2.9 crore acres of land in Telangana, 2.3 crore acres of land have been verified. The authorities announced 1.4 crore acres of land as cultivable land. KCR said, “Whether they take up cultivation or not, the government will issue cheques as well as passbooks to all 58 lakh eligible farmers for this season.”

The Rythu Bandhu Scheme is a support plan for the farmers well being. This support scheme will provide an investment of Rs. 8000 per acre of land. This means Rs. 4000 per acre during monsoon season and Rs. 4000 during the summer season.

A total of Rs. 12,000 crores would be invested by the Government to provide farmers with investment support.
