Chennai continues to experience heavy rainfall, due to which schools have been closed on Monday as well. The Collectors of Chennai, Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram have announced schools would remain closed, Today.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD,) issued a notice of heavy rainfall in Chennai and the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu. The heavy rains are due to a low pressure build up in the Bay of Bengal.
The Chennai District Collector, V. Anbuselvan said, “It has been raining continuously in Chennai due to the northeast monsoon. The IMD has forecast that rain will continue in Chennai throughout the day on Monday. Considering the students’ welfare, schools will be closed in Chennai district on Monday.”
On Sunday, 2 Cm to 6 Cm showers of rain were recorded in Chennai by the MeT department. The rain began on Sunday morning and continued through Monday morning. Schools in Chennai have been closed since last week Tuesday due to the on and off rains.
