Telangana Budget 2018: Government Announced Funds For HMR Second Phase

During the Telangana Budget, the Government announced Rs. 400 crores for the extension of the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR.) The project’s second phase will reach Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad.

This part of the HMR will cost Rs. 14,000 crores which will be paid by the Central and State governments. The HMR will also connect Biodiversity Junction in Gachibowli to RGIA. The Telangana Government also announced Rs. 50 crores towards the Multi Modal Suburban Rail Transport System (MMTS.)

Yesterday, Telangana Finance Minister Etela Rajender announced the State Budget as Rs. 1,74,453 crores. He further stated the revenue expenditure for this year is expected at Rs. 1,25,646 crores. The State’s revenue for the current financial year is expected at Rs. 73,751 crores.  

The budget also included subsidies for farmers with Rs. 12,000 crores. In farming, Rs. 500 crores will be dedicated to crop insurance and Rs. 167 crores for building micro irrigation.
