Telangana Government Will Revive Sirpur Paper Mills

On Wednesday, the Telangana Government announced it would revive the Sirpur Paper Mills at Kagaznagar in Adilabad District. This will be the state’s biggest industrial revival.

The Government has also accepted JK Paper Mills proposed package for revival of the paper mill. In 2014, Sirpur Paper Mills was shut making 1,200 officers and staff unemployed. The revival of the mill will not only save the jobs of the employees but create more jobs.

The Government issued an order for the revival yesterday. In the order the revival was approved by the State Cabinet who met on 14th March to discuss the closed paper mill.

The Sirpur Paper Mills was established by the last Nizam of Hyderabad Mir Osman Ali Khan in 1936. This paper mill is the one of oldest in the country and began production in 1942.

In 2014 the mill shutting down did not just cost jobs but the economy of the entire area collapsed when the mill was closed. Unfortunately not many could deal with losing their jobs and four former employees from the mill committed suicide. Many of the people from the mill were forced to take up daily wage jobs to feed their families.
