The new political party Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) will contest in the upcoming Gram Panchayat Elections. The TJS President M. Kodandaram asked the candidates committed to developing villages can apply to the party.
Every application received by the party will be sent through a screening committee for verification. Candidates and politicians with social work background will be prioritized. The TJS website will upload the requirements to apply for the party.
Kodandaram said, “The decentralization of finances and power to the Gram Panchayats as envisaged by the 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendments has not taken place in Telangana at the desired levels.”
He further added, “The TJS has been getting lots of response from every Gram Panchayat. There is a need to strengthen the Gram Panchayats, increase the participation of people in development process and finally Gram Panchayats should play a crucial role in the development of Telangana State.”
The TJS Chief also urged his leaders and cadre at the village and Mandal level to encourage citizens to verify their names in the electoral rolls. He said the TJS leaders need to ensure all citizens are enrolled by the 8th of May which is the last day for enrollment.
