Doctors In Guntur Perform Surgery Under A Cell Phone's Flashlight

A video of doctors performing a critical surgery using a cell phone’s flashlight has surfaced. The below par condition of the Guntur Government General Hospital (GGH) has been exposed again. It is said the lights went off in the middle of the surgery forcing the doctors to use mobile flashlights to complete the surgery. The incident took place on the 10th of February 2018, and the patient is identified as G. Venkaiamma from Palnadu in Guntur.

The Superintendent of GGH D. S. Raju Naidu in a statement said, “During the procedure, the electric supply snapped at 12:45 P.M. Even after the generator was switched on, one of the operation lights could not be switched on as the Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) tripped. For five minutes, the surgery was continued using the light from the mobile phone and later the lights were switched on after supply was restored.”

The Health Minister has ordered the Directorate of Medical Education to initiate a probe into this incident. Previously in the same hospital rats bit an infant undergoing treatment leading to the child losing its life.
