The YSR Congress Party Leader Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy called for a bandh in Andhra Pradesh. The bandh called for the 24th of July relates to the Special Category Status issue.

Reddy told reporters, “We are calling for Andhra Pradesh bandh against the injustice meted out to the state by the Central Government.” He further added, “We will support any party at the national level. Our only demand is special category status to Andhra Pradesh.”

Reddy went on to reach to Prime Minister Modi’s speech at the No Confidence motion debate. Modi stated he warned TDP not to fall in the YSR Congress Party trap. To this the YSRCP Chief stated, “We have been speaking on these things since last four years. Now TDP picked up the same and aimed at the Centre. Our sincerity appears trap to Modi?”

Yesterday at the lower House PM was quoted as saying, “When TDP was leaving NDA, I called up N. Chandrababu Naidu, warned him that you are falling into YSR Congress’s trap. I want to tell the people of Andhra Pradesh that we will keep working for them. We will do everything possible for the development of the state.”

The TDP has moved a number of No Confidence motions against the Modi Government after the Center failed to approve the Special Category status for AP. After bifurcation Andhra Pradesh faced a number of problems due to not having a capital in the State. In the bifurcation, Telangana got Hyderabad which was originally the capital of Andhra Pradesh.

Since then the Andhra Pradesh Government demanded a Special Category Status for the State. The status will ensure more money is sent towards the State for quicker development. The BJP said it would give Andhra the status, this led to the TDP joining forces with the BJP. But the BJP has denied the status to Andhra after coming to power in 2014. According to the Center, the State received large amounts of funds but failed to show any progress.
