Mr. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former Captain of Indian Cricket Team is going to mentor the Indian Cricket Council (ICC) T20 World Cup Squad of 2021.
On the night of the 8th of September, the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) announced the same through Twitter. Under the captainship of Virat Kohli, the Captain of the Indian Cricket Team and mentorship of Mr. M.S. Dhoni, Team India is set to win the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
Jay Shah, the Secretary of the BCCI said, “”Former India Captain @msdhoni to mentor the team for the T20 World Cup.”
The selection of the former Indian Cricket Team Captain as a mentor was due to his performance and capabilities. It is to be noted, M.S. Dhoni announced his retirement from international limited overs cricket on the 15th of August, 2020, and now made a comeback as a mentor. He last played for India in the 2019 ICC World Cup semi-final against New Zealand.
The announcement of M.S. Dhoni being the mentor of the Indian Cricket Team in T20 World Cup, came hours after the BCCI announced the squad.
India squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2021: Virat Kohli (Captain), Rohit Sharma (Vice Captain), K.L. Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (Wicketkeeper), Ishan Kishan (Wicketkeeper), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Rahul Chahar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami.
The ICC T20 World Cup is set to be played in Oman, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in October-November. The dates of the ICC T20 World Cup are from the 17th of October to the 14th of November.
