The Indian Cricket Team witnessed another defeat in the ICC T20 World Cup, being held in Oman, the United Arab Emirates (UAE.) This is the worst performance of the Indian Cricket team in the history of the T20 World Cup.
On the 31st of October, in India v/s New Zealand match, India scored only 110 runs in 20 overs with 7 wickets. While K. Rahul make only 18 runs in 16 balls, Ishan Kishan scored 4 runs in 8 balls, Rohit sharma 14 runs in 14 balls, Virat Kohli 9 runs in 17 balls, Rishabh Pant 12 runs in 19 balls, Hardik Pandya 23 runs in 24 balls, Shardul Thakur scored 0 runs in 3 balls and Ravindra Jadeja scored 26 runs in 19 balls and not out.
After the worst defeat of India, Virat Kohli, the Captain of Indian Cricket Team said, “We need to be brutal here. I don’t think we were brave enough with the bat or ball. Didn’t have much to defend but we weren’t brave when we walked out to the field. New Zealand had more intensity.” He further said, “When you play for the Indian cricket team you have a lot of expectations – not just from fans, but players as well. Everyone who plays for India has to embrace it. And when you cope together as a team you overcome it and we haven’t done it these two games. Just because you’re the Indian team and there are expectations doesn’t mean you start playing differently.”
On the other hand, due to the low scores of team Indian which chose to bat first, it was an easy win for team New Zealand.
They scored 111 runs in 14.5 overs with just 2 wickets. The last worst performance of Team India was when they played against Pakistan.
In India v/s Pakistan T20 match, India scored only 151 runs with 7 wickets in 20 overs, whereas Pakistan scored 152 runs in 17.2 overs with 0 wickets.
In the list of Super 12s, India is in 5th position, ahead of India there are Pakistan, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Namibia and India.
It is to be noted, if the performance of India remains the same in the next few matches, it is impossible for team India to reach the semi finals of the ICC T20 World Cup.
India needs to win all the next three matches to stay in the race of winning the World Cup.
