The 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) is different from previous editions due to the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
Being conducted in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE,) IPL fans are unable to visit stadiums and cheer for their favourite teams.
However, the pandemic did not stop fans from supporting their teams digitally. The social media platform, Instagram’s recently launched feature Reels, gives users the opportunity to support their favourite IPL teams with crazy ideas and out of the box concepts using the hashtag #MyIPLReels.
In one such 15 seconds reel, actor Kaushal Manda cheered for his favorite team, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH.)
With the theme song of SRH, Kaushal Manda made a reel with #MyIPLReel and captioned it “Go Go Sunrisers… Go Go Sunrisers, Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Under the #MyIPLReels, fans are not only cheering for their favourite teams but making 15 second reels in different genres.
While a few #MyIPLReel shows crazy concepts around art, music, food, fashion, makeup and dance, others started a war of words virtually with the fans of other IPL teams with #MyIPLReel.
Besides #MyIPLReel, reels with specific hashtags like #MyMIReel, #MyCSKReel, #MyKKRReel, #MyRCBReel, #MySRHReel, #MyKXIPReel, #MyDCReel and #MyRRReel are also being used widely.
This year, while the IPL teams are battling it out on the field, their fans took the matches to Instagram’s reels field in the most entertaining way possible!
